Artist's Statement
I have viewed the world as a close up in small pictures. I am curious in knowing how objects appear beneath the colourful surface. I was most interested in the formations and structure of what lies underneath the colourful surfaces. Many of my paintings depict rocks, feel the texture and the temperature of the stones; show the smooth and rough textures of the rocks.Another aspect of my work are my line drawings. These are a series of work done completely with lines using one drawing pen. They depict rocks, trees, sky and water with line drawing, each line created from the previous one until a picture emerges. These are painstaking and I have spent many hours creating these drawings. Again, they are born of wanting to know what might lie beneath the surface of what we see in nature. This is of course my own interpretation, and always premised with "what if".
